The Project "Choose Life or Choose Meth"
What We Are
“Choose Life or Choose Meth” is research based, multi-media project that is designed to prevent first time meth use by de-marketing Methamphetamine in particular and substance abuse in general. It does this by contrasting the importance of living a healthy life against the inherent toxicity of Meth or “Crystal,” which is systematically presented as a poison that destroys the physical, mental and social health of the user.
A 75-minute video (DVD) forms the cornerstone of this comprehensive drug education campaign. This presentation is being successfully used in drug treatment and drug rehabilitation for cognitive therapy and substance abuse prevention classes. In doing so, it replaces the ignorance that leads to bad decisions with a solid curriculum that leads to good ones. The project also includes Public Service Announcements (TV/Movie Theater), along with outdoor and display advertising which raise viewer awareness about the dangers of “crystal” or “meth” while telling them where to obtain copies of the "Choose Life or Choose Meth" video. The advertising also tells viewers who to contact for help for drug treatment or drug prevention while identifying the underwriting organization.

1. Vision: The vision of the "Choose Life or Choose Meth" Project is to realize healthier communities, safer neighborhoods, stronger families, increased graduation rates, more vibrant economies, and reduced inmate populations by eliminating the impact methamphetamine has on each of these entities.
2. Mission:
The mission of the "Choose Life or Choose Meth" Project is to eliminate methamphetamine use by replacing the ignorance in which the Meth epidemic spreads with educational resources that provide reasons to stay completely away from the drug and improve the wellness of our people by promoting a healthy life style. Furthermore, we will promote recovery to those individuals for whom prevention has come too late.

Benefits of an Integrated Campaign to Prevent Substance Abuse and Methamphetamine Addiction
The campaign will actually raise the community IQ and mindset on the subject of individual health and the impact Methamphetamine or “Crystal” has on it. Each chapter establishes a baseline of understanding what is needed to maintain a healthy life. Against this backdrop, the inherent toxicity of “Crystal” and its causal relationship to maladies such as drug addiction, crime, STD's, and the destruction of healthy minds, bodies, jobs, families, etc. are contrasted. Viewers are empowered by seeing the topics as a series of choices.
Students in substance abuse prevention classes clearly see how one moment of indiscretion can lead to disastrous consequences. While clients in drug treatment or drug rehabilitation come to understand how their addiction to crystal can be overcome. Furthermore, the production creates a psychological tipping point that de-markets Meth by generating informed, word-of-mouth advertisers, who have good reasons and a scientific foundation upon which to both encourage others and for themselves say “no.”
